Our History

Wee Ones opened in 1979 as a child care center. Three years later it transitioned to become preschool only for children ages 3 – 5. In 1988, with the cost of liability insurance too costly for our little preschool, the Congregational Church became our sponsor and the legal name changed to “Wee Ones Preschool of Olivet Congregational Church, UCC.” This also gave us tax exempt and non-profit status. Wee Ones now covers the cost for the liability insurance.

Wee Ones has always been housed in the Congregational Church except for two and one-half years, beginning in 1997, when the building was undergoing renovation due to a steam leak that caused extensive structural damage. Fern Persons Elementary School and the Community Education Building became temporary homes for the preschool during this time. In 1999 Wee Ones returned to the church and has called it home ever since.

Wee Ones Preschool meets a community need for a local, quality and caring preschool where the development of the whole child is the primary goal. Social, emotional, physical and cognitive learning experiences are offered and encouraged.
